EasyJet Review: Verona to London Gatwick

On our return trip from Verona back to the UK, we flew with EasyJet. It worked out cheaper to fly there with British Airways and home with EasyJet and we were on a very tight budget. We found the best prices by using TravelSupermarket. A return flight for the five of us, using these two airlines (2 adults, 3 children) was £351.

EasyJet allow you to check in online a whole 30 days before you fly. This is pretty handy for printing off boarding passes and preparing for your trip. We actually checked in when we booked the flights! We didn’t pay any extra to choose seats, but we were still lucky enough to get five seats together.

We just paid for one checked suitcase and used our five hand luggage bags for the rest of our things. EasyJet’s hand luggage restrictions are slightly smaller than a lot of airlines. They only guarantee hand luggage which measures 50 x 40 x 20 cm, so if like us, you plan to fly with two different airlines in one trip, it’s best to make sure your hand luggage fits the smaller restriction. We didn’t find this a problem and all our luggage fit in the measuring frames.

The checked luggage weight allowance is also lower with EasyJet than with some other airlines. We were permitted 20kg. Unfortunately our suitcase weighed 21.8kg, but luckily nobody said anything and we weren’t charged any extra for being over weight.

We were given priority boarding, due to having young children with us, which meant we boarded straight after the VIP’s. We took the pushchair all the way to the plane and left it at the bottom of the steps, where the crew took it and put it in the hold.

The flight was on time and mostly smooth, although there was some turbulence on landing.

To keep the children entertained and to stop their ears from popping, we bought them EasyJet snack boxes, which cost £4.40 each from the onboard shop and contained quite a lot. These were great value for money as they actually kept the children entertained for a whole hour of the journey, (mind you – my twins LOVE eating!).

Unfortunately our pushchair got damaged on the flight, but we put in a claim and EasyJet sent Fedex to collect it within a matter of days and offered a courtesy pushchair, which we declined.

***UPDATE*** EasyJet replaced our damaged pushchair with a brand new one the same, but the replacement took six months – by which point, my twins were no longer in pushchairs!***

Our EasyJet flight on the whole, was really quite pleasant. The attendants were polite and there were provisions for children, including baby changing facilities. We had no tears from the twins and despite the whole “no frills” ethos of the brand, we felt our flight was very good value for money. We would fly with EasyJet again. It has become my favourite budget airline.
